What happens when you put a girl and all her thoughts on the internet for over a decade? You get a lot of content. This Substack is the latest iteration in what I’m sure will be a lifelong project for me. It contains wannabe philosophical ramblings on motherhood, culture, love, art, and sartorial pursuits.

I started LARK+LACE back in 2012, and it became a really beautiful chronicling of slice-of-life vignettes—what I wore, what I ate, where I went. As I got older, the subject matter grew with me, which is why I got a new space. (However, you can still visit the archives if you want.)

My twenties were all about getting up and going, doing things, moving and moving quickly. In my thirties, I’m focusing on intent: slowing down, settling in, and embracing the in-between. For me, the “in-between” extends to my own identity: on one hand, I’m a sensible wife and mother, an Orthodox Christian, and slowly mastering the art of self-discipline. On the other, I’m a spiritual blonde with a love for tall shoes and tight dresses. Thus, the Byzantine Barbie moniker.

I thought I would have it all figured out by this point, which was, of course, very foolish of me. I’m resolute to the fact that “figuring it out” is simply how you must do life. Come and figure it out with me.
